Great for recording, commentary, vocals, acoustic instruments and for use as overhead drum mics, the new Samson C01 large diaphragm condenser microphone is accurate, detailed, and smooth with warm bass and extended top end.

 

This sturdy microphone has a large 19mm diaphragm that produces a smooth flat frequency response. It features a heavy gauge mesh grill screen, a gold plated XLR connecter and an LED indicating 48V phantom power. The unit includes a swivel stand mount and an optional SP01 shockmount is available.

Having now had the opportunity to handle and test one of these units I have to report that I am very impressed with both construction and performance. They are larger and heavier than I expected, some 18cm long ( 7”) and weighing in at 492g (17oz) excluding stand. In the kit is a small but substantially made tripod stand and USB connecting cable. A nylon bag is included to keep the microphone clean when not in use. For pc users a copy of Cakewalk Sonar LE software is provided.

 

For Casablanca *Series III, using the Samson mic could not be more simple. Navigate to Audio Record, plug in the mic, select USB Mic from the drop down input selector, adjust the level and off you go. I immediately noticed that there was no indication of background noise causing the audio level indicator to flutter, and the sound I recorded was flawless.
